I'll miss the class

So the semester is over, no more talking about neat things online. Being able to sleep more is great, not being able to talk to people in that class is not great. Funnest class I've had in a long time and you got to talk about the media, how great is that?

Well I'm glad I took the class and I hope everyone has a great summer, an online presence and keeps in touch.

Google, please hire me

Dear Google,

I want to work for you, I want to come up with incredible things that people like, work with super nice people and take advantage of the free perks you offer. I wouldn't abuse the perks, I would just appreciate the fact that they are offered. I don't care for smoothies but I would like walking by knowing I could get one for free. I could drive people around your beautiful complex, help get things for people and be a good listener to people who needed someone to talk to.

I don't have a degree quite yet but that will change hopefully in the fall. I don't know what job you need right now from an employee but at the very least I'd be a positive person who would get along with everyone.

Sincerely,
Mitchell Wilson

Safe Walk

I think Dani Basden's new group Safe Walk, which walks women to their cars when it's dark, is a great idea. My documentary project for my coms 126 class is the safety right outside campus, because I've been around campus by myself and I know it's not safe in the early morning and night. I've personally had to deal with aggressive panhandlers, men clearly mentally unstable, guys driving up and offering "homemade" cologne and trying to sell me 'their' playstations, and when I say playstations I mean one guy trying to sell me multiple playstations that he claimed were his.

I have walked girls to their cars more times than I can count so I think this is a great program that couls be spread through Facebook and Twitter. I'm pretty busy myself and not the biggest guy in the world physically, but I would be more than happy to volunteer on certain days in the future.

Facebook over television

I've come to the realization that I hear more about news on Facebook from people than I do actually watching the news on television or reading newspapers. I should read newspapers more because it's more local and it's just good practice as a journalism major.

The newspaper bomber that has been on the news happened in Vacaville, which is next to Fairfield where I live and yet I heard about it on Facebook first. I obviously need to read newspapers more but getting news I happen to miss by seeing it on Facebook is not a bad thing at all.

I need to be a better video editor as that is where journalism is headed, video's over print.

People making bank from virtual reality

I think it's nuts people are willing to pay for virtual items, let alone spend fortunes on virtual worlds. Then again, if you can spend a small fortune and actually turn it around to make a bigger fortune, by all means go for it.

Found out there are millionaires who made all their money from Second Life virtual real estate. In the virtual world of Entropia, a man made $335,000 from selling a building. A building that doesn't actually exist that sits on an asteroid that doesn't exist for over a third of a million in dollars that do exist.

Insanity...but for the sellers, more power to you.

Looked at every blog...at least I'm not too behind.

So it seems I'm not the only one who doesn't blog on a consistent basis. Nice to know but something I need to break out of if I want to be a consistently good writer. Here's to hoping I read somne good stuff this semester.

Today sucked, time to read blogs

Today I did some errands with my mom and we argued like always, which is why I avoid talking to her, as mean as that sounds. She is afraid of everything and so negative about everything in life, I can't stand it. Went to work and have to go in early tomorrow to finish things I didn't tonight, not looking forward to that.

About to start reading my classmates blogs, hopefully this will be a silver lining in what has been a crappy day. So yeah, if you're in Coms 178, I want to read some interesting, uplifting or positive stuff. You can even make it up people, just something that will make me feel a little better.
